Bali is a land that seems to have a magnet at its very heart, it goes under many names.

During the glory days, thread made of real gold are used to accompany other types of threads such as colored silk. In the history, songket was closely related to Brahmana caste. Songket artisan are mostly came from the highest caste, they prepare songket especialy for their own ceremonial costumer.
The motifs used in Balinese songket and embroidery are mostly floral, puppet figture and dragons. The Balinese songket acquire bright color composition that are festive, elegant and glorious.
The floral motif in Balinese embroidery are also shown on ider - ider and lamak for ceremonial banner, similar to the one used in Songkets.
Since Bali is an International tourism destination, the embroidery are now also being produced for tourism, which can be seen in many art shops in Kuta, Gianyar, Ubud, Kintamani and many other location.
The embroidery product are now also available in embroidered kabaya with floral patterns in European style for casual dresses. the embroidery are mostly produed in cotton and rayon material, embroidery blouses, hand bags and interior equipments.
This long tradition and skillful labor has led the way to an open market for many craftsmen resulting big business in garment industry.
