The Beautiful of Seashell and Beads Embroidery Sarung Adat of Nusa Tenggara Timur

The Sarung women in Sumba is called lau, which is famous national as well as international is part of traditional textile of Sumba. A Sumba women sarung lau is decorated with reptile or ancestor figure motifs of small seashell embroidered in front side of the sarung. Formerly tje lau only for the aristrocate women called the maramba. Nowdays the lau is worn not only for noble family but for the people in large.





In Flores bead embroidered in sea animal motif applied on their woven fabric, the used of embroidered beads is similar with Sumbanese
